Teologický časopis is a peer-reviewed academic journal focused on theological research, ecumenical dialogue, and scholarly cooperation among authors from diverse academic, ecclesial, and cultural contexts.
The journal is published twice a year and features original research studies, scholarly articles, reviews, and other contributions in theology and related disciplines. Its mission is to create a space for open, well-founded, and respectful academic discussion, to foster cooperation among Christian traditions, and to develop theological reflection in dialogue with contemporary society.

Mission and open access
Teologický časopis provides a platform for scholarly dialogue and cooperation in theology. It publishes original academic and professional contributions by authors working in universities, churches, research institutions, and other relevant professional settings.
The journal is committed to respectful and evidence-based discussion. It does not publish texts that fail to meet academic, ethical, or publication standards, or contributions based on personal attacks, discrimination, or unsupported polemics.
Published articles are available free of charge on the journal’s website. The journal does not charge authors submission, review, publication, or open-access fees. Individual issues are archived electronically in PDF format.

Publication ethics
General principles
The editorial team of Teologický časopis is committed to academic quality, transparency, impartiality, and confidentiality throughout the publication process. Manuscripts are assessed according to their scholarly quality, originality, methodological soundness, and contribution to academic discussion.
Submitted manuscripts are evaluated without discrimination based on the author’s personal, denominational, national, ethnic, political, or other characteristics.
Editors
The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for the transparent conduct of the editorial and peer-review process and for the final decision to accept, request revision of, or reject a manuscript. The decision is based on expert reviews, the journal’s scope, and compliance with ethical standards.
Editors must preserve the confidentiality of all information concerning manuscripts under review. Unpublished data, arguments, or original ideas contained in a manuscript may not be used for personal or academic benefit without the author’s explicit consent.
If an editor has a conflict of interest involving the author, the author’s institution, or the subject of the manuscript, the editor must withdraw from the decision-making process and ensure an independent assessment.
Reviewers
The journal uses double-anonymous peer review: reviewers do not know the identity of the author, and authors do not know the identity of reviewers. Reviewers are selected according to their academic expertise and independence and, as a rule, should not be affiliated with the same institution as the author of the manuscript.
A reviewer must inform the Editor-in-Chief of any actual or potential conflict of interest, or any other circumstance that could affect impartiality. If the reviewer is unable to assess the manuscript competently, objectively, or within a reasonable period, the reviewer must inform the editorial office without delay.
Reviews must be written objectively, clearly, and with appropriate scholarly justification. Personal criticism of the author is unacceptable. Reviewers should also draw attention to relevant works not cited by the author and to possible evidence of plagiarism, duplicate publication, or unethical use of sources.
A manuscript is a confidential document. Reviewers may not share it with another person or discuss its content without prior permission from the editorial office. If a reviewer considers the involvement of another expert necessary, the matter must be referred to the Editor-in-Chief.
If scholarly clarification or additional information is needed during the review process, the Editor-in-Chief may facilitate anonymised communication between the author and the reviewer.
Authors
A manuscript submitted for publication must be an original work of the author or authorial team. All borrowed ideas, formulations, data, and materials must be properly acknowledged and cited.
Authors must identify all persons who made a substantial contribution to the work. Persons who do not meet the criteria for authorship should not be listed as co-authors. All co-authors must approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission.
If the research was supported by a grant or project, the author must state the project title, registration number, and funding body. Authors must also disclose any conflict of interest that could influence the interpretation of the results.
A manuscript submitted to Teologický časopis may not be simultaneously submitted to another journal, edited volume, or book publication. If simultaneous submission or duplicate publication is discovered, the editorial office will request an explanation from the author and may, depending on the seriousness of the case, discontinue the review process or take other corrective measures.
If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy after submission or publication, the author must contact the editorial office without delay and cooperate in issuing a correction, notice, or retraction.
Plagiarism, duplication, and retraction
If the editorial office establishes that a manuscript is plagiarised, duplicates an existing publication, or reports research that does not comply with fundamental standards of academic ethics, the manuscript will not be published.
If serious misconduct is confirmed after publication, the editorial office may correct or retract the article. In the event of retraction, the bibliographic record will remain available, while the electronic version will be clearly marked as retracted and the editorial office will provide an appropriate explanation of the decision.
Complaints, concerns, and appeals
An author may request a review of a decision if the author believes that the editorial or peer-review process was substantively or procedurally flawed. The appeal must include a specific response to the reviewer’s arguments and relevant supporting documentation.
The appeal will be considered by the Editorial Board or by an independent expert appointed by it. The decision following this review is final.
Suspected conflicts of interest, unethical interference with publication, plagiarism, or other serious misconduct may be reported to the Editor-in-Chief. The editorial office will examine the concern and take appropriate action where necessary.

Published articles are made available on an open-access basis under the Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 licence. This licence permits sharing and further use, provided that the author, article title, original source, and licence are properly acknowledged.
Further details concerning copyright and licensing are governed by the agreement concluded between the author and the publisher upon acceptance of the contribution for publication.

Guidelines for authors
Contributions may be submitted in Slovak, Czech, English, German, Italian, or Polish. If a manuscript is written in a language other than Slovak, the author is responsible for ensuring high-quality language editing.
The length of a contribution should not exceed 55,000 characters excluding spaces, including footnotes.
Contributions must be submitted to the editorial office in both Word and PDF format and sent simultaneously to both email addresses:

Recommended article structure
- title and optional subtitle,
- author’s full name,
- an abstract in English of no more than 150 words,
- 2 to 6 keywords in English,
- main text of the contribution,
- author information: institutional affiliation, postal address of the institution, and email address.

For Hebrew and Greek words, the editorial office recommends the BibleWorks fonts: bwhebb for Hebrew at 16 pt and bwgrkl for Greek at 12 pt. When using other specialised fonts, such as Syriac or Arabic, authors are advised to contact the editorial office and attach the font used or provide its exact name.
Bibliographic references – basic examples
Bibliographic references are provided in footnotes. A full bibliographic reference is used on first citation; subsequent citations use a shortened form. Punctuation, italics, and the order of bibliographic elements must be consistent throughout the manuscript.
