About the Faculty

The Faculty of Theology of Trnava University in Trnava is based in Bratislava. It develops theological, humanistic, biblical and historical education as well as counseling. It is an academic environment where scholarship is connected with research, practice, dialogue and a deeper understanding of the human person.

The Faculty builds on the theological and university tradition of Trnava University while seeking a language that can speak clearly about faith, values, the human person and society today. Through teaching, research and public engagement, it creates space for theological reflection, professional formation, accompaniment, a culture of dialogue and service.

Its academic foundations are formed by four departments. Together with the Faculty's governing bodies, library, centres and other units, they support study, research, cooperation and academic life.

Centres

The Michael Lacko Centre for East–West Spirituality (Slovak) develops research and documentation on Eastern Christianity, spirituality, history and dialogue between traditions. The Faculty also develops the Centre for Dialogue and a Training Centre as spaces where scholarship, formation and social engagement meet.

Study, research and public engagement

The Faculty offers programmes that combine academic expertise, personal formation, experiential learning and sensitivity to contemporary social questions. Theology, counseling, religious and cultural mediation and lifelong learning provide several pathways for university study and continuing professional development.

Research and professional activity address faith, the human person, values, dialogue, society, accompaniment, history, culture and the responsible presence of the Church in the world. The Faculty seeks to connect scholarly work with practical relevance and service to society.
